"Babel" follows four storylines connecting people from all over the world through one catastrophic event

After being harassed by the border patrol, Santiago speeds off trying to get away (with the children in his car).

After Santiago drops them off, Amelia and the children are left to fend for themselves while Santiago leads the police away. Amelia leaves the kids to find help.

After his wife Susan has been shot, Richard takes her to Tazarine where they wait (alone) for an ambulance. After calling the American Embassy, their story is soon heard all around the world, showing how globalization has no borders.
